Pat Ponticelli
Deputy Director of Public Safety
Pat Ponticelli is a graduate of Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. He joined the Bensalem Township Police Department in October of 1989, and attended the Philadelphia Police Academy, graduating number one in Class 284 on March 2, 1990.
He was assigned to the Patrol Division following graduation and during that time he became certified as a Field Training Officer in October 1991. In addition, following Advanced Accident Investigation and Reconstruction Training in November 1992, he was assigned to the Accident Investigation Unit.
In January 1994, after graduation from the Atlantic City K-9 School, he joined the K-9 Unit with his K-9 partner Samson, where he remained until his promotion to Sergeant in February 2001.
Following his promotion to Sergeant, he was initially assigned to Administration and Training, then in August 2001 he was assigned to Dispatch and Communications were he remained until November 2001 when he was assigned back to the Patrol Division as a Patrol Supervisor. During his assignment to the Patrol Division, in addition to his Supervisory duties of a Patrol Squad, he also acquired duties as Supervisor of the Motor Patrol Unit, K-9 Unit, and Accident Investigation Unit.
In October 2004, at the request of the Police Administration, he was reassigned to the Criminal Investigation Division as the Criminal Investigation Unit Supervisor, where he had worked until December 2007.
Pat was appointed Deputy Director of Public Safety by Director Harran on December 31, 2007. He lives in Bensalem Township with his wife and children.
