Officer stabbed, is OK!

Bensalem Police are confirming that a Bensalem Police Officer was stabbed today while conducting an investigation of a pedestrian, who was possibly wanted for escape. During the encounter, the suspect lunged at the officer with a knife, however the penetration of the knife was stopped by the ballistic properties of the vest and the evasive movements of the officer. The assault occurred on Woodhaven Rd by Franklin Mills. After the encounter the suspect stole the Bensalem Police vehicle that was at the scene. The vehicle was later found abandoned in the area of Knights Rd and Fairdale Drive and the suspect was apprehended in the area of Chalfont Playground, a short distance from the location of the vehicle. Bensalem Police were assisted by Philadelphia Police and the Pennsylvania State Police.
